Glue Store Future Choice
Glue Store has come up with some quick and easy references to help you find the latest styles that are made with our collective future in mind.
We call it Future Choice.
Our goal is to leave a lighter impact on the planet and people; and inspire change towards other brands and consumers in New Zealand.FIVE PILLARS
We want to make it easy for you to make informed choices (as well making informed choices ourselves) so we have come up with 5 pillars to help us all to navigate.
This is about progress over progression, so check back as we continue to grow and develop.1. Natural Fibres
2. Recycled Fabrics
3. Animal Friendly
4. Support Local
5. Glue Store Experience
1. Natural Fibres
We love natural fibres! Sustainable and organic farmed cotton, linen and hemp are Future Choices we can all make today.
Linen
As stylish as it is sustainable, linen is luxurious, naturally biodegradable and more durable than most fabrics. Made from the flax plant, it is one of the oldest continuously harvested plants in the world and does not require much energy or water to produce as other natural fibres - leaving a lower carbon footprint. Linen is also highly breathable, hypo-allergenic, anti-bacterial and the fibres become more flexible after each wash! Long-term value we love, and a Future Choice MVP.
BCI Cotton
The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is one of the largest global not-for-profit sustainability programs. BCI Cotton brands and clothing utilise BCI Farmers who employ licensed systems to produce BCI cotton. BCI Cotton significantly reduces water, chemicals and pesticides, thus cutting the environmental footprint of cotton farming drastically.
Organic Cotton
Organic cotton comes from natural, non-genetically modified plants that are farmed without any use of synthetic agricultural chemicals like pesticides, harmful fertilisers or transgenic technology. This leaves the soil, air and water free from contamination and is known to cause less skin allergies than non-organic cotton clothing – cause’ who likes itchy clothes?
FSC Certified
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certified ensures that the trees or plants harvested to produce our products are cultivated from responsibly managed FSC-certified forests. FSC Farmers replace the plants/trees with another plant after harvesting or harvests the plant in a way which allows it to regenerate naturally. This is also a strict certification as brands need to show the FSC label and a process that allows for a greener future.
GOTS Certified
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a worldwide organic textile standard that ensure that GOTS Certified brands use eco-friendly alternatives when manufacturing their clothing such as, using no toxic bleaches, dyes and other chemicals in the manufacturing process. GOTS Certification also ensures fair labour practices and gives us transparency on which brands truly adopt a green and ethical supply chain to produce the Future Choice styles we know and love.
2. RECYCLED FABRICS
What’s a common thread amongst our brands? They make great styles with high-quality and certified recycled fabrics. From regenerated cotton shirts to sneakers made from used recycled plastic bottles, we embrace all environmentally-friendly methods of clothing manufacturing at Glue Store. Practices like using recycled fabrics help enormously in reducing landfill waste, pollution and energy thus making fashion eco-friendly. Because we want to provide well-designed & thoughtfully made clothing that last more than a season, but for life.
3. ANIMAL FRIENDLY (Not BAA-D)
We’re dedicated to offering the most uncompromising quality clothing on the market, that’s also sourced responsibly. That’s why we offer styles and brands that are 100% certified vegan and cruelty-free clothing, to give our customers peace of mind and keep the farmers happy. Using materials like vegan leather and rPET (material made using recycled PET plastic) means that you will not only look great, but feel great knowing that no animals were harmed in the making of your new outfit.
4. SUPPORTING LOCAL
Now more than ever, supporting our fellow Aussie brands has become more important. Glue Store, as an Australian-owned company for over 20 years, takes pride in supporting all Australian labels like P.E Nation, Thrills, Nude Lucy, Lulu & Rose, Article One and many more. The unique style, diversity and Down-Under Flavour that these labels bring to our shelves is something we’re seriously passionate about. They also provide for local jobs for amazing skilled teams of designers, production managers and instore sales staff.
